Healing with Compassion and Dignity

Healthcare is a basic human need — yet for many families in Burundi, medical treatment remains unaffordable, unavailable, or out of reach.

In the communities we serve, healthcare resources are extremely limited. An estimated 120,000 people rely on these services, with a population heavily made up of children:

  • 18% are infants

  • 60% are children and youth (ages 2–18)

  • Only 22% are adults

This demographic imbalance places immense pressure on families and health systems. In addition, approximately 5% of the population is living with HIV — more than twice the national average — increasing the need for continuous medical care, counseling, and medication.

At Burundi Parables Christian Ministries (BPCM), we believe that caring for the sick is part of living out the love of Jesus Christ. Through our clinics, we serve those who would otherwise be left without care.

🏥 Parables Medical Centers

Parables Medical Center — Carama

Located in a densely populated community, the Carama clinic serves thousands of patients each year, providing essential and often life-saving services, including:

  • General medical consultations
  • Treatment of common and chronic illnesses
  • Maternal and child healthcare
  • Laboratory testing and diagnosis
  • Pharmacy services and medication access
  • Health education and counseling

This clinic is a lifeline for families who cannot afford private healthcare.

Parables Medical Center — Kanyosha

Our clinic in Kanyosha (southern Bujumbura) provides essential medical care and serves as a safe place for mothers, children, and vulnerable families seeking treatment and emergency support.

  • Primary healthcare services
  • Maternity care and referrals
  • Emergency medical intervention
  • Compassionate patient support

💛 Compassion for the Vulnerable

Many patients who come to our clinics are unable to pay for medical services. Whenever possible, free or subsidized treatment is provided for:

  • Widows
  • Orphans
  • Children
  • Elderly patients
  • Families facing extreme poverty

Care is given with dignity, compassion, and without discrimination. No one should be turned away simply because they are poor.

Too often, people in Burundi suffer unnecessarily — or are forced to return home untreated — because medicines, equipment, or funds are unavailable. BPCM is committed to doing everything possible to prevent this reality.

👩‍⚕️ Our Dedicated Medical Team

Our clinics are staffed by trained and committed professionals, including:

  • Nurses
  • Midwives
  • Laboratory technicians
  • Community health workers
  • Administrative staff

They serve not only with skill, but with prayer, compassion, and a deep sense of calling — representing Christ through their daily work.

🧰 Medical Supplies & Urgent Needs

Medical resources remain critically limited. There is an ongoing need for:

  • Medicines
  • Laboratory equipment
  • Hospital beds and mattresses
  • Wheelchairs and mobility aids
  • Medical furniture and supplies

BPCM partners with churches and mission organizations who donate medical supplies and humanitarian containers. These partnerships help keep our clinics operational — especially during emergencies — but needs continue to exceed supply.

🌍 Community Health Outreach

Beyond clinic walls, our medical teams engage in community health education and awareness programs, particularly for mothers and children.

  • Disease prevention
  • Hygiene and sanitation
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic health education

Preventive care helps reduce illness and saves lives.
