๐ŸŒฑ Agriculture โ€“ Seeds of Hope

Restoring Livelihoods Through Sustainable Farming

Decades of conflict, beginning in 1993, deeply disrupted agricultural life in Burundi โ€” especially in the Rusizi Plain, which became a prolonged theatre of war. During this period, many families lost their land, tools, livestock, and stored produce through destruction and pillage.

For rural communities whose survival depends on farming, the impact was devastating.

Today, smallholder farmers continue to struggle to rebuild their livelihoods. Despite their determination to produce food and sustain their families, many face overwhelming challenges โ€” lacking basic agricultural inputs, support systems, and access to essential resources.

Burundi Parables Christian Ministries responds by supporting agriculture as a pathway to recovery, dignity, and long-term hope.

Through seed distribution, tools support, and community-based agricultural initiatives, we help families return to the land โ€” not only to survive, but to thrive.

๐ŸŒพ Key Agricultural Challenges We Address

  • Lack of quality agricultural seeds
  • Absence of basic farming tools
  • Limited access to agricultural inputs and supplies
  • Disrupted production support systems due to past conflict
  • Families struggling to restart farming after loss and displacement

Our goal is to restore farming capacity at the household level, ensuring food security and resilience for vulnerable communities.
